Slow moving this morning, sorry. Coffee didn’t perc. Nah, just slow moving as we made a rush trip to San Antonio and emptied the storage unit. Nothing left there… sort of like when Abraham left Ur–all was left behind. We loaded, drove, and unloaded, so the body was reacting or maybe unreacting to the trip, packing and unpacking.
One thing for sure, the world sure has changed. Things that were developed to make life easier and more simple have actually complicated life. We are supposed to be communicating better today, and there is actually less communication. People want relationships, but because of social media these relationships are often superficial.
The world is definitely different. Growing up in the Cold War, there was the threat of nuclear attack and annihilation, now we are being threatened to annihilated by the forces of Islam and the threat is terror. Who is your enemy? A nation, a person, a stranger who drives by or you see on the street, maybe even your neighbor.
“But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].”

Read that verse over a few times. Paul says for us to “understand” or “know”. This refers to critical knowledge. We are to “understand this!” But mostly we choose to tip-toe through the tulips, unless something directly affects us. “Understand this!” The things happening in the world affect us, if for no other reason than to show us that we are living in the last times.
What does “perilous” mean? It means something with high risk or danger. It was used by the Greek world to mean something hurtful, ruthless, cutting, or hard to bear. It could be someone or something that was ferocious and uncontrollable.
Look at the news and see if the times are not indeed, “perilous”.
