Learn the lesson. It just shows that all mistakes cannot be cleared up, but we can learn from them. Sometimes, no matter how hard we work, or how much we want to make things better, there are times when all we can do is look at the scars and remember.”
–B.N. Rundell (Emigrant Trail)
“If we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him. But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then he must turn against us.”
–2 Timothy 2:12 (TLB)

Don’t think for a moment that the journey you are on is not filled with hostiles. Those who first settled this country did not understand or know the deprivation, evils, and troubles that they would face. They fought, they endured, and they made a country. Those who continued the trek westward had then a better understanding of what they might face. Some threats were ended: the Indians who fought to keep their way of life, the cholera and smallpox along with other dreaded diseases were faced and conquered. Weather, storms raging, blizzards where faced, and though not conquered the people endured, rebuilt and continued on.
So my friend, do not think that you no longer have to face hostiles. They may not be the foes that the settlers before us faced, but they are there, actually more numerous than before and often more subtle than before. Pseudo-Christianity, feminism, globalism, Islam, injustice among those in the justice system, the agenda before the truth and law, terror in the world, terror in the streets of our country. Liars abound being fed by the father–the father of lies. But know and understand this, “Your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3, NIV) We should realize that we live in Christ. We do not follow the dictates of the world!
I write the words of the early Church father, Ignatius of Antioch, “All things must come to an end, and there are two alternatives before us. They are life and death; and every one of us will have to go to his own particular place. There are two different coinages, so to speak, in circulation, God’s and the world’s, each with its own distinctive marking. Unbelievers carry the stamp of the world; while the faithful in love bear the stamp of God, the Father, through Jesus Christ. Unless we are ready and willing to die in conformity with His Passion, His life is not in us.” Do you get this? Two ways–Choose wisely! Pick up your cross, whatever it may be and whatever it may entail and follow Jesus. It is the only safe and secure way, though at the time there may be suffering, heartache, pain, and even death. Eternity will reveal that it was worth it. You are either of the world or you walk the way of Christ!
