Echoes From the Campfire

Take the opportunities that come your way and do the best with them.”

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”
                          –Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

O how thankful we should be that we have the blessed Promise of the Father.  The Holy Spirit is our Guide:  Comforter, Helper, Advocate, Counselor–they all fit His function.  He is there to whisper which way we should go.  We have the road map of God’s Word in front of us and the Spirit then points the way.  But we have to look at the “roadmap” and listen to His quiet voice.  Then, we step and walk with confidence.

“Whatever awaits us is encountered first by Him–each difficulty and complication; each wild beast or wilder robber; each yawning chasm or precipitous path.  Bind this comfort to your heart:  that the Savior has tried for Himself all the experiences through which He asked you to pass; and He would not ask you to pass through them unless He was sure that they were not too difficult for your feet, or too trying for your strength….  This is the blessed life–not anxious to see far in front; not careful about the next step; not eager to choose the path; not weighted with the heavy responsibilities of the future:  but quietly following behind the Shepherd, one step at a time.”
